Peak online advertising body opens membership
in response to increased industry participation
General Manager role created as online marketing momentum builds
Sydney , 1 August 2006 - In response to continued rapid growth in the maturing online adverting industry, Australia’s Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) has opened its membership to reflect the broader range of businesses now actively involved in the development and sale of online advertising and marketing.
Membership is now open to companies that sell any form of interactive advertising, including online, email, wireless, interactive television or other emerging platforms, and companies whose business supports the sale of interactive advertising and marketing, including agencies, technology companies and those involved in research and rich media.
“Broadening the breadth and depth of IAB’s membership base reflects the expanding number and type of businesses involved in the creation and sale of interactive advertising and marketing. Opening up membership will allow us to deliver value directly to the people and companies who are contributing to our industry’s development and success,” IAB’s newly-promoted General Manager Patty Keegan said.
“IAB Australia members have the opportunity to help shape the future of the industry through involvement in initiatives such as working committees and ‘think tanks’ involved in addressing issues and making recommendations for industry initiatives including development of standards and guidelines.”
Members also benefit from educational forums including roadshows, seminars, training and creative showcases; inclusion in industry listings; use of the IAB logo; and updates on projects and initiatives.
New Members Briefing
“The IAB will hold a new members briefing in mid September. I urge all companies who wish to learn more and have their say as part of a collective industry voice to join before 31 August so they can attend this valuable session,” Keegan added.
General Manager post created
The IAB also announced a key executive appointment, with IAB Australia manager Patty Keegan promoted to the newly-created role of General Manager.
The appointment recognises the contribution Keegan has made to the organisation since its formation in October 2005. Keegan, who was chosen to head IAB Australia as manager at launch, has been a driving force in the organisation’s early success in organising, educating, promoting and developing the industry.
“The creation of a GM role is an endorsement of both the strength of the organisation and the momentum online has built as the fastest growing sector of Australia’s advertising and marketing industry,” Keegan said.
Keegan will also assume IAB Chairman duties following the recent resignation of Cliff Rosenberg from the IAB when he left IAB member Yahoo!7 to join Clear Light Digital in early July 2006.
