News IAB Australia announces 2007 Interactive Advertising Awards New look, format and categories for Internet Awards Sydney , Tuesday 31 st October 2006 ... IAB Australia has announced its inaugural industry awards, with the launch today of the 2007 IAB Australia Interactive Advertising Awards. The awards, which will combine the best aspects of the previously held Internet Awards with the experience and gravitas of IAB Awards from around the world, will seek to identify Australia’s elite online and interactive advertising and marketing campaigns. Entries will open from 6 th November 2006 and must be submitted online at www.iabawards.com.au before 29 th December 2006. Finalists will be announced at ad:tech on February 7 th 2007 and the winners will be honoured at a sit down gala dinner in Sydney on Wednesday 28 th March 2007. The 2007 IAB Australia Interactive Advertising Awards will be very different to the previously held Internet Awards (and Awwwards). After extensive local industry consultation and reflecting best practice from the MIXX Awards in New York, the 2007 IAB Australia Interactive Advertising Awards have been divided into two streams – creative and media – across five key vertical industry categories. Silver Stars will be awarded in each category, with Gold Stars being awarded to exceptional campaigns. The entry judged as Best of Show Award will gain automatic entry into the IAB’s U.S. MIXX Awards in 2007. The awards will be judged by an independent panel of highly acclaimed brand marketers and interactive and advertising marketing experts, with strategic guidance from the IAB Australia Awards Advisory Board. NetX has developed new submission and judging capabilities for the Awards website www.iabawards.com.au to streamline the entry and judging process. Past winners Publicis Media, Y&R, Optimedia and Soap are expected to face strong competition from many new comers as well as some old hands, including eMitch after the agency’s recent success at MIXX 2006, where it won Silver for its Virgin Blue campaign. According to Patty Keegan, General Manager of IAB Australia and chair of the 2007 Interactive Advertising Awards Committee, this year the judging committee will be looking for creative and ingenious interactive campaigns that have also managed to deliver measurable and effective results. “Collectively our industry is continuing to mature and the standard of online and interactive work we’ve seen this year has been impressive. “While we still hear claims that Australia is behind the US and UK with regard to online creativity and execution, this year we have seen absolute world best practice campaigns coming from Australian agencies. In fact two of the finalist campaigns in the International category at MIXX 2006 in New York were from Australian agencies – so we expect the quality of entries this year in our Awards will reflect that. We are very much looking forward to showcasing Australia’s best practice at the awards,” said Ms Keegan. |
