PWC wins Online Advertising Expenditure Report contract
Following a three month review process, the Interactive Advertising Bureau of Australia has today appointed PWC on a twelve month contract to deliver the industry’s Online Advertising Expenditure Reports.
The Online Advertising Expenditure Report has been produced since 2002 by ABVS and is based on audited financials submitted from a selection of companies who sell online advertising including: News Digital Media, Fairfax Digital, ninemsn, Sensis, Yahoo!7 and includes 1028 websites.
From January 1, 2007, PWC will assume responsibility for collecting the financial data from all participating companies, develop a methodology to ensure coverage and validity is maintained or improved; and report quarterly, six monthly and annually on the online advertising dollars in market for four categories: Classifieds; General Display; Directories; and Search, as well as across different verticals.
The first report to be delivered by PWC will be the Q1 2007 report, which will be released in early May 2007
According to IAB Australia General Manager Patty Keegan, the tender process was a necessary part of IAB Australia’s general review of the online advertising market.
“One of IAB Australia’s key priorities is to ensure the timeliness and transparency of industry data. We believe PWC is very well placed to help us deliver the quality data that the industry relies so heavily upon. We will be closely reviewing PWC’s performance over the coming months and look forward to a long partnership with them.”
Four companies were invited to tender for the Online Advertising Expenditure Report: ABVS, Nielsen Net Ratings, Nielsen Media Research and Price Waterhouse Coopers.
