Deepend win Creative Showcase 10.2 with Royal Children’s Hospital campaign

SYDNEY, 5 January, 2016: Deepend has taken first place in IAB Australia's Creative Showcase Round 10.2 for its “Ed and the Curious Crew” campaign for the Royal Children’s Hospital. The runner-up was  BCM for "Global Goggles VR Experience" created for Queensland University of Technology, and second runner up was Edge, with its campaign for Petbarn.

Deepend developed an interactive, educational platform to increase engagement, connection and well-being for children and young people educationally at-risk. Children often feel scared and isolated during their stay in hospital, and can face substantial disruption to their usual schooling program. Edge, in conjunction with the hospital and resident teachers, developed a mobile and tablet application called “Ed and the Curious Crew at The Royal Children’s Hospital”. It combined beautiful design, immersive storytelling and great functionality to provide an engaging interactive environment that complements a child’s learning and encourages exploration and discovery through nurturing the child’s curiosity.

BCM created an immersive VR experience to bring famous landmarks from around the world into the heart of the Brisbane landscape, showing prospective students on open day that that QUT is truly a 'university for the real world'. The custom designed headset and smartphone app brought the VR experience to thousands of users for the very first time. Global Goggles made 2015 QUT's most successful Open Day ever.

Coming in third was Edge with its emotional campaign “For Better Humans”. Made for Petbarn, the campaign was a three-part documentary style film series, digging deeper into human truths and emotional themes. These films were launched on Facebook as a sequentially targeted series of content. The films have been viewed more than 2.5 million times.

"Round 10.2 includes some very authentic and engaging winning campaigns which, on the whole, have some element that seeks to better the world." said Mike Zeederberg, Creative Showcase chair of judges and managing director of Zuni.

The IAB Creative Showcase competition series accepts entries for work completed in the three months prior to close of judging for each round and only one campaign per agency is allowed. The winning entries are showcased at
