Alex Else2Alex Else
Alex Else is the National Ad Operations Manager for REA Group and has been in this role since July 2012. 

After a post University year travelling around Australia, Alex began his career in Ad Operations in 2000 in the UK as a temp in the commercial radio division of the media publisher Emap. Alex progressed in radio advertising operations to become the Regional Advertising Manager for the South of England and stations in Scotland, managing the operations of national brands including Kiss100, Magic105.4 and Kerrang.

In 2008 Alex made the sideways leap into online and digital ad operations by becoming a Technical Account Manager in Microsoft Advertising in the UK, where he learnt the tools and acronyms of digital ad ops. In 2011 Alex moved to the role of Global Vendor Support Manager for Microsoft Display Media Services, taking on the responsibility for managing the global relationship and advertising operations of a 3rd party operations partner of Microsoft.

Alex moved to Sydney in 2012 with his wife and young daughter to take up the role with REA and the opportunity to enjoy all the benefits of life in Australia (compared to those of south east London) but has not yet had a surfing lesson…

Amy McCormack founded Human Traffic as a startup with herself and another employee in June 2011. Today, less than 2 years down the road and over 10 employees, Human Traffic is without a doubt the largest and most experienced local media operations support group in Australia.

Over the last 15 years Amy has developed her expertise working within the media sales divisions of leading media owner establishments such as Fairfax and ninemsn across all media sales functions including operations, sales , business development and strategy. With this ‘end to end’ experience she has gained an amazing depth of knowledge and understands instinctively how decisions will impact further down the line, making her advice pretty spot on! She is also considered one of the most experienced in market when it comes ad pricing and yield.

Andrew is currently the National Digital Ad Operations Manager for News Corp Australia has over 13 years’ experience in Sales and Operations within the Travel, Online Classifieds and Digital Media Industries in Australia and the UK. At News Corp Australia, Andrew has also held the role of Ad-Tech Innovation Manager and Change Manager – working on the DFP upgrade and Ad Sales Booking System replacement projects. Andrew joined News Corp Australia from Mi9 (formally ninemsn) where he held the roles of Senior Product Manager and Deputy Head of Ad Operations. Prior to returning to Australia in 2007, Andrew worked for the online classifieds site fish4.co.uk for 3 years in Sales and Ad Operations roles.

Ankita’s had had a range of experience working at a boutique digital agency, a 3rd party ad serving platform as well as one of the largest agency names in the industry. As the Director of Operations at Anomaly (IPG Mediabrands), Ankita looks after all Digital Operations and plays a key role in implementing advanced campaigns. She is extremely passionate about digital and pace of the industry. Her strength lies in developing technology innovations that help marketers solve their business problems.

Ben Williams2Ben Williams, Advertising Research & Development, SAS 
Ben is currently focused on creating ‘consumer first’ advertising and data products at SAS, pulling from his 10+ years of guiding strategy in the digital marketing space. 

He started making 1’s and 0’s dance at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he designed user interfaces for content and e-commerce exploration. He’s led consulting teams specialized in design and implementation of ad delivery and data gathering tools for Aol, advised on ad product creation for Lonely Planet and is still proud of the 4% click rate he got on a well-targeted creative he designed that ran on the Netscape portal.

Jonas has recently moved over from the UK to head-up REA Media nationally and will be based in Melbourne. His digital media career started in 1999 when he joined a start-up financial news and data website, called DigitalLook.com, which seven years later had grown to over 100 staff and was sold to CMC Markets. Thereafter Jonas launched WebAds UK, a specialist business and finance digital ad sales house before running the Ad Operations and Publisher Management teams for Hi-media – Europe’s largest independent ad network. Just prior to moving to Australia, Jonas was Director of Product at Videology, a video DSP.

Timothy WhitfieldTimothy Whitfield, Xaxis Director of Operations
Tim Whitfield stands at the forefront of the fastest moving media industry trend: programmatic media. He’s spent the past thirteen years honing his skills by developing third party ad-servers and campaign stewardship systems and has now helped position Xaxis as a leader in the public programmatic space.

A calculated risk-taker with deep tech industry knowledge, Tim has been the director of operations and managed a large number of enterprise customers. Tim is recognized as a forward thinker in the areas of automation of operations, systems design and infrastructure design.

Tim is the key contributor on the IAB’s Brand Safety Council of Australia which is tackling the problem of Brand Safety and Ad-Fraud in the Australian Market. Ad-Fraud is described as war between good and evil and war that is being fought and won.

Tim holds an engineering degree in optoelectronics from Macquarie University. He is a former developer with 15+ combined years of experience in the media and technology arenas. Tim is a valued speaker on programmatic events and can often be seen hosting a Programmatic 101 lecture at various events.

Kenan Arif v2

Kenan Arif, Team Leader, S2M 
Kenan has worked in the digital space (in one way or another) for over 7 years. Having started out as a Multimedia Producer for ITV’s IPTV division, Kenan worked in a team that looked at monetising online and video content in the early days of Digital Ad Ops and the explosion of the likes of You Tube and Google. He then relocated to Australia and moved across into digital recruitment, where he now helps people at all levels manage their careers and future progression across the digital, technology, media and communications space.
