27 October 2009: IAB Australia today announced that Alex Littlejohn, managing director of Adconion will join the IAB Australia Board for a one year term commencing in November 2009. Mr Littlejohn will represent the interests of the non‐founding members on the Board. The announcement followed a competitive nomination and voting process during which IAB Australia members were called upon to select their preferred representative.

Nic Cola, Chairman of IAB Australia welcomed Mr Littlejohn to the board noting: “Alex’s extensive experience both in Australia and overseas will be an asset and bring new perspectives to the board.”

Mr Littlejohn commented: “I am delighted to join the IAB Board for the next 12 months and look forward to actively contributing to the continued development of Interactive Advertising in Australia. As Managing Director of Adconion I am confident that I can bring a unique perspective to the group and thank the non founding members for their support in my appointment.”

Competition for the Board position was fierce with Mark Halstead, Managing Director, 3D Interactive; Wendy Hogan, Vice President and Managing Director, CBS Interactive; Robert Leach,  Head of MCN Connect; Robert Wong, Chief Executive Officer, Catalogue Central Australia Pty Ltd also seeking election.

According to Paul Fisher, CEO of IAB Australia the interactive advertising industry is continuing to grow strongly in Australia and the IAB has an ambitious and wide reaching programme of initiatives to support and fuel that growth.

“Our key focus is continuing to educate marketers about how best to implement interactive advertising, setting industry standards, guidelines and best practices, and developing a world leading online audience measurement system. Alex’s election to the Board will strengthen our position in setting the industry agenda and I’m sure he will bring a new perspective to the needs of the industry and our members. The next 12 months is an exciting time and Alex’s election is timely.”

Mr Littlejohn will attend his first Board meeting on 5th November 2009.
