12 months ended 31 December 2008

Online advertising expenditure in Australia for the 12 months ended 31 December 2008 totalled $1,710.25 million. This is an increase of $364.25 million (or 27.1%) from the 12 months ended 31 December 2007.

All expenditure types recorded strong growth. General Advertising accounted for 27%, Classifieds Advertising accounted for 26% and Search & Directories Advertising accounted for 47% based on expenditure for the 12 months.

The highest spending Advertiser Industry category in General Advertising was Finance. Recruitment was the leading category for Classifieds Advertising.
