Executive Summary

3 months ended 30 September 2007

Online advertising expenditure in Australia for the third-quarter 2007 (3 months ended 30 September 2007) totalled $347.75 million, the largest quarter recorded. This is an increase of $22.25 million (or 6.8%) from the second-quarter 2007 (3 months ended 30 June 2007), and is an increase of $84.75 million (or 32.2%) from the third-quarter 2006.

General Display advertising and Classifieds advertising accounted for 28% and 26% of the total advertising expenditure for the third-quarter 2007, respectively, while Search & Directories advertising comprised the remaining 46%.

Finance, Computers & Communications and Motor Vehicles sectors continue to be the dominant industries using General Display advertising, and comprise over 52% of the General Display spending.

Recruitment continues to be the leading category for Classified Advertising expenditure, followed by Real Estate, then Automotive.

With the exception of Search & Directories, the September 2007 OAER does not include any estimates for non- contributors. The Search & Directories category includes an estimate of advertising expenditure received by Google, the largest company in the Search market.

Due to estimates not being included for non-survey contributors for the General Display and Classified categories, these markets can be considered to be larger than as reported in the OAER.

Reports prior to March 2007 include estimates for the General Display and Classified categories.

Growth rates for the current quarter compared to the prior year can be considered to be understated due to this different basis of measurement.

Adconion, Drive Performance Media and Network Ten have contributed for the first time to this report. The IAB and PricewaterhouseCoopers are actively looking to increase the number of contributors to this report. Prior quarter figures (June 2007 and March 2007) have not been updated to reflect the introduction of Adconion, Drive Performance Media and Network 10. The non-inclusion of Adconion, Drive Performance Media and Network 10 in June 2007 and March 2007 figures is not considered to be material to those quarterly figures.
